POLICE have busted a man who allegedly tried to peddle a baby girl for a thick of wad of cash at a local shopping centre.
An urgent manhunt was sparked after police received chilling reports of a man pushing a pram in central Manchester, England, asking people if they wanted to buy the three-month-old baby for $2088 (£1000) on Sunday afternoon.
Officers took to social media, urging shoppers to help them amid concerns for the infant’s welfare.
The Manchester Evening News reports on one occasion, the man shouted into a bookmaker’s shop calling on someone to make him an offer, before continuing down the street asking the same question.
Detectives later arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of child neglect in the city centre and was held in police custody.
The baby girl is safe and well and remained in protective custody.
