Make-up hacks for your lips, eyebrows, nails, mascara and skin

THERE are women who love the hours-long process of getting ready and looking great for a night out, but what many don’t realise is how easily and quickly they could get ready with a few simple tips.
Beauty therapist Lauren Elias shares her years of experience and knowledge to help you shave hours off your beauty routine without losing quality.

1. MAKE YOUR MANI LAST LONGER
Dab some nail polish remover on your nails before you start and it will remove the oil and moisture from the nails that cause it to chip.
2. TAME YOUR EYEBROW SHAPE
Spray a bit of hairspray on your eyebrow comb or old mascara brush and stroke through your brows to keep them from getting out of place and messy throughout the day or night.

3. MAKE YOUR SKIN GLOW
Since it’s impossible to permanently walk around in a Valencia filter, I like to go with the next best thing: instant tan, which works as a body bronzer for the night and washes off in the shower. My personal favourite is J Bronze instant tanning cream. For the best, streak-free results, apply to exfoliated skin. Massage the instant tan evenly onto your skin and leave to set for just under five minutes before getting dressed. It’s not too heavy, has a lovely scent and washes off easily.
4. GET LONG, LUSCIOUS LASHES
Buy a good quality eyelash curler — then it’s all about technique. Press down on the lashes in three spots: at the base, in the centre and then at the tip to ensure the lash is curled the whole way through. Apply two coats of voluminous mascara after curling to give a full ‘falsies’ look.

5. WET NAILS? AIN’T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT
Find a bucket and place ice cubes in it with some cold water. Dip your freshly painted nails into this and voila! — one of the quickest way to dry your nails.
6.BIG LIPS
Create the illusion of plump lips. Once you have applied your lipstick, dab a bit of concealer, gold eyeshadow or gloss in the middle part of your lips (depending on the colour of your lipstick) to make them appear plumper. Use only a tiny amount, and press your lips together to blend the colours. Concealer works best for a nude shade lipstick, and gloss or gold eyeshadow work well on red shades. You can also pop some along the line of your Cupid’s bow to enhance the dip on your top lip.
