More celebs join the fight against rape

THE sixth edition of the much awaited Walk Against Rape campaign was held on Thursday, March 10th in support of the ongoing fight against rape in the country and in commemoration of the International Women’s day. Celebrities such as Wunmi Obe, Susan Peters, Dayo Amusa, Tayo Odueke, Niniola, Koker, and Pryse joined several concerned Nigerians from different sector of the society to create awareness and encourage victims to speak up.




The walk which is aimed at creating awareness and lending a voice to sexually abused persons (particularly women and children) in the society was a huge success as people came out en-masse to participate. Esther Ijewere- Kalejaiye , the National coordinator of Walk Against Rape says the aim of the rally is to help in encouraging victims to speak out and reduce the stigmatization attached to the victims of rape, also to demand for the creation of more help centers across the state. The walk started from the Archbishop Vining Memorial church (AVMC) ground and ended at the Ministry of Women Affairs, Alausa, Ikeja, where the group was received by the Commissioner for the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Lola Akande.
